On August 19, 2023, the federal government released its long-anticipated draft clean electricity regulations, kicking off a 75-day consultation period for the public to weigh in on the terms of this cornerstone climate policy.
During that period, thousands of David Suzuki Foundation supporters crafted powerful submissions in support of ambitious regulations delivered without delay. Together with allies across the climate movement, we shared our vision of 100 per cent affordable, secure, renewable electricity by 2035 and the climate imperative of removing from the regulations loopholes and extensions that would allow companies to burn fossil fuels to generate electricity.
Now that we’ve made our voices heard, our work must be to ensure our representatives deliver this policy without delay so that communities throughout Canada can enjoy the benefits of #RenewablePowerForAll!
