EVs are great. Help spread the word

In Norway, new EV owners convince three others to buy one. You can too

Transportation is a big contributor to climate change emissions. Reducing emissions through electric vehicles is one piece of the climate solutions puzzle.

Many people want to buy electric cars but can’t find them in their communities or on car lots. We’re encouraging the federal government to bring in an electric car standard so that more of the cars sold every year are zero emission. Along with national rebates now available for battery-electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles, a standard will get EV wheels rolling.

Letting people know why you love EVs is another way. Your letter to the editor can help more people make the switch. Whether you have one or want one, let people know that the transition to EVs can be a bright one.

Speaking points

The more good news stories we get out about EVs, the more likely people are to consider them. Your personal experience is what matters. Even if you don’t own or use an EV, you may be planning a switch. Here are some ideas for your letter:

  • Introduce yourself (e.g., I’m a grandmother, student, teacher, etc….)
  • I love EVs because…
  • I’m planning to own/lease or use an EV because…
  • The best way to get more EVs in Canada is…
  • I’m letting my friends and family know they should consider an EV because…
