Speak up for a sustainable, resilient city

On September 2, 2026, Edmonton city council will consider important updates to its climate plan. The city is also considering updates to its climate resilience policy.

Implementing the climate plan and strengthening the climate resilience policy would significantly lower emissions, expand public transit, ensure more energy-efficient housing and buildings and help communities adapt to climate change impacts.

Although city council has promised to take action on climate, it’s lagging on implementing the climate plan, at a time when lives and livelihoods depend on it.

This summer, Alberta has experienced damaging storms, tornadoes and extreme heat. We are feeling the impacts of a rapidly changing climate, and conditions will only worsen, especially if we avoid taking real action.

Edmontonians care about climate. Let’s tell our elected officials that we want to live in a resilient, sustainable city that prioritizes the wellbeing of people and the environment.
