Working on species at risk involves three core emotions: frustration, that our society isn’t living up to its potential to share the planet more equitably with wildlife; creativity, to brainstorm solutions to the challenges that face habitat protection; and love, for the many eight-, six-, four-, two- and no-legged creatures that continually inspire a sense of wonder.
