VANCOUVER | TRADITIONAL, UNCEDED TERRITORIES OF THE xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (MUSQUEAM), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (SQUAMISH) AND səlilwətaɬ (TSLEIL-WAUTUTH) FIRST NATIONS, January 30, 2025 — The David Suzuki Foundation Board has appointed Linda Nowlan as acting executive director, effective January 27, 2025. Current executive director Severn Cullis-Suzuki is on a three-month medical leave.

Nowlan will lead the organization across its three regional offices and promote its critical work to protect nature, support communities and push for climate action. She is based in Vancouver, B.C.

Nowlan is an experienced non-profit leader, environmental lawyer and senior executive. She has led teams as senior director of the University of British Columbia Sustainability Hub, executive director at West Coast Environmental Law and director of Pacific conservation at WWF-Canada.

“It’s a privilege to join the David Suzuki Foundation,” Nowlan said. “The Foundation is a leader in the environmental movement in Canada and it’s an honour to support its team to push for bold climate action, protect nature so it can sustain all life and create resilient communities that benefit everyone.”
