The David Suzuki Foundation board is recruiting a new executive director to lead the organization at a time when climate change is a more critical issue than ever.

Linda Nowlan, an experienced non-profit leader and environmental lawyer, will stay on as acting executive director during the transition to new leadership.

Severn Cullis-Suzuki, who led the organization since 2021, left her role as executive director for a leave in February. She will now resume her PhD in Linguistic Anthropology in Haida Language revitalization at the University of British Columbia.

Jocelyn Joe-Strack, board chair of the David Suzuki Foundation, said:

“The David Suzuki Foundation strives to be a leader in social and ecological justice. We uphold all our leaders, past and present, who have made this organization what it is today. We are grateful to Severn for her important contributions to the Foundation’s mission and vision, and we fully support her continuation with her doctoral research. We now look ahead with excitement for our new leader, to their energy and vision, as we continue the work to heal Earth and ourselves.”
