Support La Rose youth climate lawsuit plaintiffs

Stand with these brave youth in court climate action

In October 2019, 15 young people went to court for climate justice, demanding that the federal government stop violating their charter rights by perpetuating dangerous climate change. They want government to develop a science-based climate plan.

The government attempted to dismiss the La Rose case, but the youth plaintiffs’ counsel appealed. In February 2023, they presented their case before the Federal Court of Appeal during a virtual hearing. By the end of 2023, a unanimous decision by three judges re-opened the door for the case to proceed. The youth plaintiffs have since amended their complaint in preparation for trial next year.

These courageous young people are part of a global movement of youth holding their governments accountable to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and safeguard their constitutional rights. We are honoured to support them in this landmark Canadian youth climate litigation case.
