This video shows how treaties were intended as means to confirm agreements between the federal government (often referred to as “the Crown”) and Indigenous Peoples, to secure modes of peaceful coexistence and land and “resource” sharing.

Ultimately, treaties are a fundamental expression of relationship and are the basis for legitimate settler presence.
