Almost 300 Vancouverites wrote to ask city council to pass the climate emergency parking plan. This equitable plan would have helped Vancouver meet its climate commitments. Unfortunately, council rejected the plan by a vote of 6 to 5. Parking is a contentious political issue, but our commitment to healthier, equitable communities and climate action will not waver. Council will be considering how the city can meet its climate commitment through increased density, more trees and better buildings this year. Stay tuned for opportunities to be heard.
