Stefanie Castrilli Carmichael

Expertise: Strategic communications, media relations, crisis communications, social strategy and content creation, public engagement and international development.

Credentials: MA in International Development Studies, including field research with urban refugees in Rwanda; honours BA in Political Science and African Studies; more than 20 years of experience in strategic communications and media relations, including nearly a decade with United Nations agencies in Rwanda, Thailand and New York, peacekeeping operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Libya and Liberia, and the UN Mission for Ebola Emergency Response.

Passions: Making complex issues accessible, helping people see themselves in solutions and building unlikely coalitions. Outside of work, I’m passionate about raising two good humans, floating home life, community, kayaking, camping and my 45-kilogram rescue pup, Stanley.

I believe people care. They care about their families, their communities and the future. Too often, they’re just stretched thin by the demands of everyday life. Good communications connect those everyday concerns to bigger issues and help people see where they fit into the story.
