This conservation analysis of Ált’ka7tsem/Howe Sound identifies areas of high ecological value that have the best opportunity to catalyze conservation action. The analysis divides the candidate areas into two categories:

1. Category blue areas, which offer excellent opportunity for formal protection of ecological values and attributes that may be threatened by present and potential future human activities.
2. Category green areas, which identify high biodiversity areas that overlap with places where people live and work, suggesting  management practices to reverse harm, restore ecosystem health, and protect socio-ecological systems.
