This conservation analysis of Ált’ka7tsem/Howe Sound identifies areas of high ecological value that have the best opportunity to catalyze conservation action. The analysis divides the candidate areas into two categories:
- Category blue areas, which offer excellent opportunity for formal protection of ecological values and attributes that may be threatened by present and potential future human activities.
- Category green areas, which identify high biodiversity areas that overlap with places where people live and work, suggesting management practices to reverse harm, restore ecosystem health, and protect socio-ecological systems.
