It’s increasingly difficult to paint landscape without being concerned about climate change. Clear cutting disturbs soils, wetlands and peatlands, releases carbon, diminishes the boreal forest’s ability to absorb carbon, harms species and threatens Indigenous Peoples’ ways of life. Boreal forests help keep the entire planet healthy. We need urgent, ambitious climate action, including an immediate end to clear cutting, so that future ancestors can experience this wondrous land and continue to be nourished by it.
