Oceans and fresh water, Biodiversity salmon, British Columbia, sharks, conservation, policy and regulation, species at risk
A previously undocumented high density of pelagic sharks observed in B.C.’s western Queen Charlotte Sound helps scientists better understand at-sea mortality of returning Pacific salmon and conservation status of sharks in Canada and beyond. The authors recommend a dedicated Canada-US sightings and biological sampling program to gain greater understanding of sharks in the region.
