On June 19, 2019, Mississauga city council unanimously passed a motion declaring a climate emergency.
This motion was brought to them by a passionate group of middle school students from Camilla Road Senior Public School.
Thanks to the dedicated work of these young people, Mississauga has joined hundreds of cities in Canada and jurisdictions around the world representing more than 70 million people.
Mississauga has jump-started climate action by recognizing the climate crisis for what it is. Now it’s time to back this up and commit to real action that will reduce the impacts of the climate crisis.
Council will release a climate plan later this year with concrete actions to reduce carbon emissions.

This was an important step, but we aren’t done yet!
