This brochure summarizes a more detailed report, Marine and Coastal Ecosystem Services, published to inform discussions about how to implement an integrated oceans management strategy in the Pacific North Coast Integrated Management Area. The concept of ecosystem goods and services — the resources and processes provided by natural systems — should be used as a foundation for sustainable economic and social development. This requires clear accounting of the ecosystem services provided by the coastal and marine environments within PNCIMA.
