This report, Watersheds of the Ontario Greenbelt: Policy Options to Preserve, Protect and Restore the Watersheds of the Greenbelt, focuses on four key watershed services that residents of Ontario depend on at a local level: water filtration, waste treatment, flow regulation and flood and erosion control.
The report examines these natural ecosystem services — services that contribute to water security and don’t appear on any balance sheet, yet are absolutely necessary for healthy communities. It also reviews outstanding threats and provides policy recommendations for the preservation, protection and restoration of such services.
