On May 14, 2026, the Government of Canada released a discussion paper titled ‘Powering Canada Strong: A National Strategy for an Electrified Canadian Economy’. This discussion paper establishes the framework for how the federal government plans to engage with and support electricity system build-out and economy-wide electrification in Canada.
The federal discussion paper also includes key “areas for action” on which the federal government is seeking input during a period of open consultation throughout Summer 2026.
This document is a technical and policy submission for this consultation made by the David Suzuki Foundation to Natural Resources Canada on June 30, 2026.
